I love the ocean, girls, sad music, and stargazing. Currently obsessed with the Edwardian era and historical fashion. Probably having an existential crisis right now.

Corpse Bride dress redesign by silverwing66
Corpse Bride dress redesign
Because I’ve become a giant nerd for historical fashion, I found myself rewatching Corpse Bride and noticing just how anachronistic Emily’s dress is - like, it seriously looks sooo 21st century. I still think it’s a cool and striking design, but it got me wondering what a more accurate dress would look like…

Now, I would place the movie around the early 1890s, based on Victoria’s clothes in particular. Judging roughly by the state of Emily’s decomposition, and the fact that Lord Barkis is still alive, I’m assuming that he killed Emily at some point 20-30 years prior. I went with the mid 1870s, taking a few artistic liberties (the huge bustles on dresses from that decade just didn’t really fit with Emily’s silhouette). But yeah, I’ll probably take another shot at this later, just to refine the idea a little better.

Another thought: what we see Emily wearing in the movie could actually be her undergarments, and not her wedding dress. That would make sense, considering that large areas of her body have decomposed down to the bone, so why not most of her clothes? Though it’s a still a far cry from what real Victorian undergarments look like, at the end of the day, it’s a fun Tim Burton movie, and I should probably stop overanalyzing it.
Tanzanite Gemsona by silverwing66
Tanzanite Gemsona

Well, after binge watching Steven Universe, I finally caved and made my own gem character. I’m still working out all the details about her, but here are the basics…

Color scheme: Blue and purple

Weapon: Scythe

Special abilities: Levitation, hypnotic singing

Personality: Laid-back, empathetic, intelligent, often seen as aloof, very introverted, prone to abandon anything that becomes overwhelming

You work so very hard at your art, with considerable success.  I enjoyed viewing your gallery.  I am very glad you enjoyed the one poem, I might suggest ''Beach Scene" and "Transitions."
